Definition: semiconductor IP

(semiconductor Intellectual Property) Proprietary hardware circuit designs that are licensed for use in various chips, typically custom made from scratch using application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) or field programmable gate array (FPGA) methods. An "IP block" is an individual function or circuit. See reusable IP and ASIC.
